Ensuring the profitability of a nut or olive plantation depends on one crucial factor: tree longevity. However, this key detail is often overlooked, especially during the harvesting process and the tools used for the job.
Joaquín Faure understands this well. Managing 11 hectares of land between Aragón and Catalonia, he combines cover crops with almond cultivation. After years of trying different harvesting systems, he is convinced—nothing compares. "It used to be total chaos: spreading tarps all over the ground, worrying about rain, and relying on workers to show up," he recalls. Now, thanks to Arcusin’s AutoPick GTi with an umbrella and dehuller, everything has changed. "Harvesting almonds has almost become a hobby for me," Joaquín confesses. He particularly enjoys working alone. "I love not having to depend on anyone," he adds.
The impact on his profitability has been significant. Previously, cleaning almonds was a major issue—he had to pay for cleaning based on total weight, even though only a third was actually clean fruit. "Now, with the AutoPick, that problem is gone," he says with relief.
One standout feature of the machine is the vibration. "It’s very gentle; that’s what convinced me from the start," he explains. Designed to protect the tree trunk regardless of its diameter or the terrain, this unique feature has made a significant difference in his plantation.
"I can irrigate without worries. With other machines, I had to stop watering for days to avoid damage—impossible for me since my land is saline. If I stop irrigating, the salt rises and damages the roots," Joaquín explains.
With the AutoPick, he has found the perfect machine: it keeps working, keeps irrigating, and most importantly, does so without compromising the health of his trees.
