– Maria Álvarez, AutoStack FSX
Maria and Marcos are two young farmers who live in a small village of 400 citizens called Ciguñuela, located in the province of Valladolid just 12 km from the capital. Most of its people are dedicated to agriculture (wheat and barley crops) and livestock. These two siblings come from a family with a great trajectory within the agricultural industry, both on the maternal and paternal side, having their farmland that has allowed them to continue with the family business. At one point in time, they had large extensions of land that reached as far as Burgos and Seville, but over the years they have decided to settle locally near Valladolid.
Maria and Marcos manage practically alone the production and harvesting of more than 16,000 bales of straw per year. Although they have many years of experience, have studied degrees in Agriculture and love everything about this world, they say farming is hard work, and dealing with the lack of staff has been very difficult.
Before buying his first Arcusin stacker, Marcos was responsible for baling with a Case LB 434 XL baler and Maria was going behind with her Case telescopic picking up their 120x70 bales and loading them into trucks. Part of the straw is left piled up in the field and sold directly, and the other part is collected and stored to be sold throughout the year. They had a truck driver who helped them, but when he retired in 2021, the siblings had a decision to make. At that time, they decided to invest in a bale stacker that would allow them to clean the fields faster and prevent the packages from staying in the field for a long time, especially in recent years when unexpected bursts of rain have surprised them several times.
This will be Maria's first campaign with her new AutoStack FSX machine and she is eager to get started. Last year they did a trial run with a contractor who picked up half of their straw volume with an FSX trailer to see if they liked the Arcusin system, and when they saw the results, they decided to take the leap and invest in buying one of their own.
